During the opening session on FH Awareness Day, the FH Foundation will honor Dr. Robert Hegele with the FH Foundation's Pioneer Award for his achievements in cardiovascular and molecular genetics including the discovery of the molecular genetic basis of 25 human genes including FH and other lipid disorders. Dr. Hegele will give a keynote on genetic drivers of inherited heart disease and will be joined by Drs. Ruth McPherson and Daniel Rader for a dynamic discussion.

The second session will explore the "Science and Application of Genetics in Diverse Populations." Dr. Latrice Landry, clinical molecular genetics fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital/ Harvard Medical School, will highlight overcoming challenges of disparities in care. Dr. Zahid Ahmad, UT Southwestern, will discuss efforts to improve screening, diagnosis and treatment within diverse populations.

Dr. Kevin Volpp, Founders Presidential Distinguished Professor at the School of Medicine and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the Director of the Penn Roybal Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics, will provide this year's keynote address in our session "Can behavioral economics drive cardiovascular disease prevention?" Together we will explore how health incentives, behavioral economics, and "nudges" can improve cardiovascular health.
